Apart from a very quick trip to busy Morrisons, I have spent all day gathering, sorting and pricing "stuff" for Thursday night's Bring & Buy stall at the Open Evening.
I am really excited with the selection we will have on offer and hope all of it sells and we will be able to send off a nice fat cheque to Help for Heroes..............
Yesterday was my last Sunday workshop of the current session and we were having a Day Trip Round the World.
Despite my warnings regarding clocks etc, I managed to sleep in due to my own alarm clock stopping in the middle of the night.
The expressions on the faces of all the waiting ladies was priceless as I arrived, still on time, but later than usual..........my apologies again.
Everyone seemed to enjoy making their quilt tops no doubt helped by my outstanding demonstration..........will post photos as soon as humanly possible.

Withdrawal Symptoms
Only one week to go until class finishes for the summer - summer??
For those of you who are going to miss me (!!) and might not be able to watch Rural TV for a dose of Eleanor - I think I might have found the answer. Click here for a UK online TV channel, it looks good but does have a monthly charge.
Meanwhile, don't forget the Open Evening next Thursday, 1st April - I will be in class Thursday AM & PM so if convenient, please bring me your quilts or workshop projects.
My Bring & Buy supplies are growing - all proceeds to Help for Heroes - anything sewing related is welcome, please price it in advance, and if you have nothing to bring then please come along to buy.

Whilst surfing.........
Spring seems to have sprung at last - things are definitely warming up and the bulbs I planted last year are popping up. They provide a lovely surprise as I planted from an old bag of bulbs that had been hanging about the greenhouse so getting a nice mix.
Was just surfing for an applique shape and came across Wee Folk Art and thought you might like a look. You will see their button at the side of this page.
Enjoy.

A Trip Doon the Water
It's a month away yet, but I have another date for your diaries - the Ballantrae Patchwork & Quilting Group are having a 25th Anniversary Show on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th April in Ballantrae Parish Church.
The show will be on from 10am to 4pm each day and teas and coffees will be available at £1.50.
I know one or two of the Ballantrae ladies but had no idea that their group had been going for so long.
I think this would make a lovely day out and hope many of you will get together and make the trip.
Fish and chips in Girvan on the way home?.....................

Planning a Trip?
As our classes hurtle towards the end of another season, I thought I would share with you some websites where you can find out details of upcoming quilt shows / exhibitions. The first is here, details of an important new exhibition at the V & A in London.
Do try to visit the Loch Lomond Quilt Show - I have been every year since it began and it just gets better and better - click here for all the details.
If you get the chance, maybe you could visit the Festival of Quilts at the NEC near Birmingham - this is definitely the biggest show of its kind that we have in the UK - click here for the relevant details.
Meanwhile, I am hoping to get details of new classes and workshops out to everyone in the next week.
There are now various stitching groups who use the community centre and to avoid confusion for the poor soul who has to send out bills, I have decided to "re-brand" my classes.
From the new session, all my classes & workshops will come under the name of "bluepatch quilters"

Culture Vulture
Well, little old me has been exposed to a bit of culture this weekend.
On Sunday I fell heir to tickets to a couple of events at Aye Write, Glasgow's Book Festival which is currently being held in the Mitchell Library. We listened to Sue Lawrence talk about her latest book, "Taste Ye Back: Great Scots and the Food That Made Them". It was an interesting discussion, full of food nostalgia with the bonus of a tasting session at the end!
Later there was the chance to hear Joss Ackland discuss his book about his life with his wife who sadly succumbed to Motor Neurone disease.
It was great to see the venue so busy, surely proving that there are still many readers out there in the real world. Click here for more info.
Not satisfied with just one trip to Glasgow, today I was back up for a visit to the Collins Gallery to see an exhibition of Japanese Sashiko work - this was a most interesting collection of old garments and modern contemporary pieces. Definitely worth a visit, and no charge! Click here for more info on sashiko.

Another new month
What a beautiful day - hopefully this is Spring at last?
Yesterday saw "Workshop Weather" altho it was a wee bit chilly in Alloway Village Hall for our Accidental Landscape workshop.
Brows were furrowed and concentration levels at an all time peak, but just look at the results..........
This landscape is what started it all - Janet Bryden made this a couple of years ago and I loved it so much - I thought, mmm, that would make a good workshop.........
...............so I bought the book and tried one.........
and then another.........
if you build it they will come, and they did................
this is Mary's, brilliant fabric choice for her island.......
and this is Margaret's.....really atmospheric
and Marjorie's mellow landscape..........
and Morag's....check out those sheep..........
and Alexis'...,red sails in the sunset..............
Helen has created a lot of depth to her landscape with her choice of fabric.......
and Tricia told me this is a local Maybole scene........really dramatic, and brilliant border choice..
Karen knocked up this wee Tuscan scene in the blink of an eye........
Ann's wintry scene.....so crisp..........
and Wendy's beach scene.......................great perspective.........
another of Ann's....one she made earlier............
my snowboarder...............
this is yet another of Ann's landscapes.........she just couldn't wait for the workshop........
and this chilly Winter scene is by Jackie...................
and this one is by Lynette............she agonised over her 2nd border but got it just right!
and finally........Glenda's................no pic, you were deep in stitching when I was snapping away but I will catch it at the Open Night.
I was given permission to run this workshop by the author of the book "Accidental Landscapes", Karen Eckmeier, on the condition that students purchased a book or pattern. I think all agreed the book purchase was worth it and for those of you who were unable to attend, I recommend its purchase. Click here to view Karen's website.
